User corrections

Scholars who signed in with their ORCID iD have corrected their own records; every such edit lands in a public, revocable ledger. This release integrates 1,676 corrections:

  • 623 papers removed from a scholar profile
  • 193 papers claimed by their author
  • 573 duplicate scholar records merged
  • 1 ORCID iDs removed from records that are not their holder’s
  • 153 duplicate papers merged
  • 133 papers moved off a record that is not their author’s

9 recorded corrections could not be integrated yet:

Scholar records sharing an ORCID iD

OpenAlex splits many scholars into several records that carry the same ORCID iD. This release folds 1,854,257 such records into the iD holder’s profile and removes the iD from 98,103 records that are not the holder’s:

  • 1,754,931 merged — the name registered with the ORCID iD picked the surviving record
  • 77,843 merged — the record with the most works survived
  • 21,483 merged — a spelling the registered name does not contradict
  • 94,684 iDs removed — a different name from the iD’s holder
  • 3,165 iDs removed — a different name from the iD’s holder, linked to them only through a record that fits both
  • 254 iDs removed — an aggregate of many people’s works, not a scholar

Papers restored by their authors

Signed-in scholars keep their full body of work in the dataset: every work of a registered owner rides through the mechanical screens above. This release serves 10,727 papers — from 255 signed-in researchers — that the standard screens alone would have dropped, 50 of them individually claimed.
